Summary
Anger is dangerous when uncontrolled and leads to sin and broken relationships, but wise anger rooted in love and justice is godly. The sermon teaches that wisdom means ruling emotions rather than being ruled by them, exemplified by Jesus's righteous anger at injustice and his patient love at the cross.
Highlights
Anger is not a sin. It is not inherently wrong. In fact, if you never get angry, I'm not sure that's a sign of godliness at all. I think it may be a sign that you've gone numb and there's nothing that you actually love.
Wise anger isn't defensive, it's protective. It rises up when the good is being threatened, when justice is being trampled, when dignity is being denied.
You don't become slow to anger by trying harder to stay calm. It's not about clenching your fists and counting to 10. You become slow to anger by looking at Jesus.
