Summary
Romans 12:9-21 calls Christians to three expressions of love in response to God's mercy: sincere love rooted in genuine affection rather than pretense, generous love expressed through financial and emotional sacrifice, and radical love that refuses retaliation toward enemies. Only Jesus perfectly embodies this love; believers are transformed into his image through worship and dependence on him.
Highlights
The best way to spot a counterfeit is to know the real thing. Jesus is the real, genuine lover. He's the one who lives this out perfectly.
What if our happiness is on the other side of our obedience to God's commands to live lives of generosity?
To be in his presence is to be at peace because he is love. To be transformed into Jesus' image is not possible through direct effort. It's only possible if we're in his presence.
