Summary
Jesus calls His followers salt and light, revealing their identity and purpose to influence a dying world. This identity is not earned but given by Christ and requires being transformed by Him first. Disciples must avoid clumping up in Christian community alone and venture out to reflect Christ's love to those who will never hear the gospel otherwise.
Highlights
You were meant to influence. Following Jesus and my desire to live a really impactful life and change the world are not two mutually exclusive things—they're actually one in the same.
Christian community is a gift and makes a terrible God. If every spare minute we spend is only with other Christians, we will miss the mission of God that He has for each of us.
Your ability to influence the world comes not from your skill or your giftings but from your identity. This identity is given to you by Jesus—He didn't make a mistake when He calls you the light of the world.
