Summary
Paul's teaching on grace in Ephesians 2:8-9 shows that salvation is an unearned, undeserved gift from God—not something earned through works. Through the Christmas story's inclusion of both shepherds and wise men, the pastor demonstrates that God's gift of grace transcends social status, material wealth, and spiritual maturity, making salvation available to every type of person regardless of their journey.
Highlights
You don't gotta earn it, but what you can do is you can learn it, and so many Christians never learn the gift they've been given because they're so busy trying to earn the gift that they've been given.
Whether you were looked down on or you were looked up to, Christmas is an invitation for you to look to Jesus. Forget who's not looking at you and look to Jesus. Forget all the eyes that are on you and behold him again.
God's heart goes out to those no one else cares about. The people everyone else has forgotten, the people everyone else looks down on, God says, 'I'm looking right at you, and I needed you to know this morning you may feel overlooked.'
