Summary
Ecclesiastes concludes that all earthly pursuits are vanity, calling believers to fear God and keep His commandments as life's true duty. The narrator warns against endless self-discovery journeys that repeat the preacher's exhausted search for meaning, pointing instead to Christ as the sole rescuer who satisfies the law's requirements through His perfect obedience and atoning death.
Highlights
Continuing to search for meaning under the sun when wisdom has given its conclusion is vanity. Wisdom knows when to stop searching.
The law is there because I deeply, deeply love him. And it's the same way with God. He gives us the law for us to flourish in the world that he has created.
Maybe God is lovingly loosening your grip from the things that won't last and reattaching them to himself. He loves you. He knows what you truly long for more than you do.
