The Facts of Division

Summary
Paul appeals to the Corinthian church to pursue unity despite their spiritual giftedness, exposing how internal divisions over preferred teachers and leaders undermine the church's effectiveness. Division stems not from external persecution but from internal sin and pride, and true unity requires humility, grace, and focus on Christ rather than on individual leaders or preferences.
Highlights
Our divisions and brokenness are not celebrated but they're grieved and confronted. When division happens in the church, there should be the possibility of real reconciliation. That is the difference.
Faithful are the wounds of a friend. Profuse are the kisses of an enemy. When your friend or someone you love is trying to tell you the truth, it can hurt you, but they are not sinning against you because their desire is not to wound you but to wake you up.
The church that Paul said was not lacking in any gift, but because they were lacking in unity, he's going to say they're ineffective in what God is calling them to do. They were an all-star team that didn't know how to play together.
