Summary
Jesus teaches two groups about sin's destructive power: those doing good works in His name deserve honor and reward, while sin carries grave eternal and present consequences. Believers should cultivate a passion for righteousness and hatred of sin, finding joy in alignment with God's holiness rather than pursuing momentary pleasures that ultimately harm.
Highlights
Sin always, always brings harm, small or large. Certainly, it hurts us eternally. But sin also hurts us now.
Jesus had more joy than everyone who was around him because he loved what was good and right and pure, and he hated what was evil and dark and sinful, and he was filled with joy because of it.
Even if no one else notices what you've done, the Lord does. And not only does he notice, it says he'll never forget.
