The Lord's Prayer: Our Plea
The Capital Church

Summary
Drawing from Matthew 6:13, the pastor teaches that overcoming temptation requires not willpower alone but prayerful dependence on God and the support of community. Two requests—"lead us not into temptation" and "deliver us from evil"—invite believers to ask God for wisdom to avoid temptation and power to resist it when faced. The sermon shows how prayer and intercessory support transform temptation from inevitable surrender into a winnable struggle.
Highlights
What Jesus is saying here is that we need to understand that we enter every day knowing there's a battle. We know we're gonna be in spiritual danger, and we have a Heavenly Father who would love to give us all the protection we need, all the air cover we need to guide us and to guard us and to protect us if we would pray.
What I wanna help you understand today is what you've really learned is how hard it is when all you ever do in resisting temptation is access the willpower that God has given to you.
There's a difference between struggling with something and surrendering to something. Yes, there's grace and forgiveness when I surrender, but what Jesus is saying here is how about in the midst of the struggle we begin to engage in prayer and ask others to pray for us so that it's a struggle, but we don't surrender to it.
