Summary
Through Exodus 11-12, the Passover narrative teaches three foundational truths about salvation: salvation belongs to the Lord alone (not to human effort or false gods), salvation requires sacrifice (the lamb's substitutionary death foreshadows Christ's atonement), and salvation must be remembered (through commemoration like communion, believers renew their trust and resist idolatry).
Highlights
Salvation belongs to the Lord. True, meaningful, deep satisfaction, the okayness that you long for is never gonna come from the next promotion. It's never gonna come from the next relationship. It only comes from your creator.
The essence of sin is us substituting ourself for God. The essence of salvation is God substituting himself for us.
Your salvation will become real when it starts to affect your calendar and your wallet. When you say no to other things because you're committed to Christ and his church.
