Your identity and your significance and your value in life are absolutely disconnected, divorced from what you possess.
It is foolish to spend your life gathering possessions which won't last while remaining poor towards God, which goes on for eternity.
To be rich towards God, you have to want to be rich towards God. But the way you start to have that desire is by seeing how rich God has been in his grace towards you.
