Summary
Paul addresses the Corinthian church's problem of self-focused comparison and division by calling them to Christ-centeredness. The passage teaches that true judgment belongs to God alone, not to human opinion or self-evaluation, and that all gifts are from God, making boasting and superiority baseless.
Highlights
When you are known and loved and cherished by the most high God of the universe, you belong to Christ. What else do you need? Who else matters?
This is what humility looks like. I am not overly concerned with other people's opinions of me. I am not overly concerned with my opinion of myself. I pay attention to my conscience, but I know that even that can be wrong from time to time.
When the only verdict that ultimately matters has already been secured in Christ, our arrogant hearts can finally be humbled and our anxious souls can finally rest.
