Summary
Through the parable of the vineyard workers (Matthew 20:1-16), Jesus warns against jealousy rooted in a false sense of what we deserve, calling believers to recognize God's shocking generosity and abandon comparative, envious thinking that distorts spiritual vision.
Highlights
When you incubate dessert culture, what you get is jealousy, right? And jealousy can be very, very destructive. You end up being angry about the things you don't have that you think you deserve and angry that other people are getting things they don't deserve.
God is shockingly generous to people who curse him. The very breath in the lungs of the person that is cursing God is itself a gift from God.
If we can remind ourselves that we're not entitled, it undercuts the fuel that jealousy works on.
