Summary
Paul instructs the church in Crete to live as godly citizens and church members by submitting to authority, speaking well of others, and reflecting Christ's transformation rather than justifying sinful behavior. The gospel changes believers' motivation and conduct toward others.
Highlights
What we do not need is to be the best version of ourselves. What we instead need to be is the best reflection of Jesus to a world in need of salvation.
Jesus died not so that you could return from the bucket of slop that you once ate from. He saved you so that you could actually fight off the temptation to look like the world, knowing that life outside the prison is so much greater than life inside of it.
All it takes is one bad strawberry to ruin the container in just a few days. The same thing can be true of our church. All it takes is one person to pull aside someone, small conversations, to spread things that are not good, but instead cause division.
