Summary
Drawing from Philippians 1:27–2:11, Pastor Miller argues that a worthy Christian life is defined by unity and humility. Unity strengthens believers against opposition, advances the gospel mission, and displays Christian theology to the world, while humility—being others-oriented rather than self-oriented—flows from Christ's self-emptying sacrifice and enables genuine community.
Highlights
Unity and humility are connected. Unity in a marriage or in a business or in a church grows from the soil of humility. You can't have unity without humility, but if you've got humility, you will eventually get unity.
The essence of gospel humility is not thinking more of myself or less of myself. It is thinking of myself less.
Jesus didn't express himself. Jesus emptied himself. American culture says above all else, express yourself, but that's not what Jesus did.
