Summary
Paul teaches the Corinthian church that spiritual gifts come from the Holy Spirit and are designed to unite diverse members into one body of Christ. Every believer receives gifts not for personal exaltation but to serve the common good and display Christ's unity to the world.
Highlights
Our individual gifting is meant to be something we delight in because it draws us into community with one another because of our need for one another. This isn't something that pushes away and divides us. This is something that unites us.
The Bible has no category for self-sufficient Christians. God has called us to be united in community with a singular purpose and goal.
You don't know better than God any more than I do. God has designed the body to represent Christ in the world through variety and differences so we might display the unity of Christ.
