Summary
Jesus confronts his arguing disciples about greatness in Mark 9:33-37, presenting two radical ways to live: the world's competitive ladder-climbing versus Christ's servant leadership. True greatness comes through becoming last, serving all, and approaching God with childlike humility—embracing freedom in Christ over fear-driven achievement.
Highlights
If you wanna be at the top, you need to race to the bottom. If you wanna be first, you need to work to be last. You wanna be the best, then go and serve from the bottom.
The problem with this pathway is it doesn't work. It does not work. It hasn't worked for you yet. It won't work for you. And no matter how much it doesn't work, we are still promised that if you stick with it, it will work eventually.
Quit trying to fix your stuff. Bring your stuff to me. I promise you, I can handle it. That's what he says. And you know what he does? He handles it. And there is so much freedom in that.
