Summary
Matthew 18 presents Jesus' answer to the disciples' question about greatness in the kingdom: true greatness requires becoming like a child—humble, insignificant, and free from pride. Through radical imagery (cutting off hand or eye, leaving 99 sheep for one), Jesus demands that followers abandon status-seeking and welcome those society deems worthless, reflecting God's fierce love for the overlooked.
Highlights
The very thing that Jesus says we need to even enter the kingdom, the thing that makes people great in the kingdom seems to be the thing that we are allergic to the most. The idea of being a nobody.
It's only when I turn and I actually believe that I am a nobody, will my life truly be open to other nobodies.
Those moments where my pride and my ego just kind of got pushed so far away, it just wasn't there and I just really felt like I was humble and not like lowly, but I just didn't care about myself anymore because I was so enthralled by the one who loved me. And those have been the best moments of my life.
