Summary
Micah poses the central question: how does one come before the Lord? Through Micah 6:6-8, the sermon explains that no amount of wealth or personal sacrifice can atone for sin or earn God's favor, but Christ alone has fulfilled the law's impossible demands and paid humanity's infinite debt through the cross, freeing believers to obey out of gratitude rather than obligation.
Highlights
You cannot atone for your sins. You cannot earn an audience with God. And the standard is impossibly high for how we are to live before God.
Where the law says do, the gospel says done. The requirements of this law have been met through Christ.
We are acting out Micah 6:8, not in order to come before the Lord—that has already been done for us—but out of gratitude for the life that has already been given to us, not to earn that life.
