Summary
Paul teaches believers that death brings immediate presence with the Lord and introduces the future hope of resurrected bodies on a renewed earth. Christians possess immeasurable hope in death because their temporary earthly bodies will be replaced with eternal, glorified bodies, and their lives now are judged by what counts for eternity.
Highlights
The Christian has immeasurable hope in death. This body is dying, but one day God will give us bodies that do not break, that do not get sick, that do not decay.
To be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord. Last breath, first breath. You take your last breath on earth and your first breath in heaven, immediately in the presence of God.
How much of my life is counting for eternity right here and right now? Am I living my life for things that actually matter, or is my life full of wood, hay, and stubble?
