There's a difference in teaching something incorrect versus being a false teacher. Being a false teacher means that you continually teach false doctrine for your own selfish desires and for your own selfish gain.
When you look at people and analyze their life, look to see if their heart is to point you to the Father and not for their own selfish gain and selfish ambitions. And look at the fruit on their tree.
