Genesis 2 establishes God's design for marriage through two complementary roles: husbands called to sacrificial leadership and selfless love; wives called to sacrificial helping and selfless love. Both partners must actively sacrifice and serve to reflect Christ's relationship with the church and build thriving families.
Highlights
Headship equals responsibility, not privilege. You are the first to serve the family and you are chiefly responsible for the condition of your family.
If he's not doing these things while you're dating, he will not do them when you get married. He is showing you who he is before you say I do.
Marriage will not work for the longterm without selfless love from both people. If both people are not sacrificing throughout the marriage, you're going to have conflict.
